Cento keeps your expenses on your phone. You can track, budget and review everything with no account and no connection. A few things send data out. With Premium, the names of your items are sent on their own, in the background, to be labelled by kind of product. Everything else goes out only when you use it: the AI features (scanning a receipt, importing a spreadsheet with AI, and translating the names of categories you create) send what they need to be read, sharing a household syncs that household's expenses so the other members can see them, converting between currencies downloads public exchange rates, opening the Premium screen adds to anonymous daily counts, and optional analytics, only if you turn it on, sends usage events. The privacy policy describes each one. We never sell your data or use your expenses to train anything.
Only when you use an AI feature, or in the background for Premium product labelling, and only the parts each needs. For a receipt scan, the request contains the photo of the receipt and the list of your category names, so the items can be sorted into your own categories, plus your labels and the app's language, so the receipt can be given one of your labels. An AI spreadsheet import sends the spreadsheet you picked, asking Cento a question sends only that question and today's date, translating a category or group you create sends its name and the names of your other categories and groups (so the translation does not repeat one), and, with Premium, labelling your items by kind of product sends just the item names, with no amounts, dates, stores or people. Apart from anything you or your household typed into a label, none of these requests contains your name, your email, your account identifier, your household or your device. The AI provider, Google's Gemini, receives the content from Cento and has no way to tell whose it is.
All of this AI processing happens in the European Union. Cento sends these requests to Gemini on Google Cloud in Frankfurt, Germany, where Google keeps the processing inside the EU, so your receipts, spreadsheets, category names, labels and item names are not sent outside the EU to be read. Your synced data is stored in the EU as well.
A few details worth knowing. The photo is shrunk and re-saved before it is sent, which removes the hidden metadata a camera attaches, including GPS location. We do not store the photo or the extracted text on our servers, and the copy cached on your phone is deleted after each scan. What the AI does see is whatever is printed on the receipt itself, such as the shop, the time and the items, so treat a receipt the way you would treat the paper one.
Yes, two of them. Without a subscription you get three scans in total, so you can try the feature before deciding. With Premium, scanning is part of your plan and there is no monthly allowance to run out of.
There is also a daily ceiling of 60 scans that applies to every account, Premium included. It exists so that one account cannot exhaust the service for everyone, not to ration normal use: 60 receipts in a single day is far beyond ordinary tracking, and if you do reach it, scanning is back the next day. The ceiling resets at midnight UTC.
Ask Cento lets you ask about your purchases in your own words, like "where did I buy Aerius the cheapest this year?", and is part of Premium. Typing in the Moments search always works on its own, offline and on your phone. When you tap ✨ (Ask Cento) in that search, or Ask Cento on Home, the question and today's date go to Gemini in the European Union, which turns them into a search: a product, maybe a store and a date range, and the answer you want. That search then runs on your phone, so your expenses, amounts and stores are never sent. Kinds of products such as "fruit" or "bags" are recognised on your phone too, from the labels stored with your expenses, and asking still sends only the question and today's date. You can ask up to 30 questions a day, and typing a search has no limit.
You can also dictate instead of typing: tap the microphone in the Moments search. Your phone turns your voice into text on the device itself, so the audio is never sent anywhere. The microphone only appears on phones that can do this locally in the app's language.
Yes to both. Logging expenses, budgets, CresCENTO, reports and trips all work with no account and no connection. An account is needed only for the things that genuinely require a server: sharing a household across phones, subscribing, and AI scanning.
It stays on your phone. Everything you have logged remains, and everyday tracking keeps working exactly as before. What stops is the Premium-only part: your expenses no longer sync to the shared household, and AI scanning is no longer available. Nothing is deleted, and resubscribing picks up where you left off.
Yes, two ways, in Settings. Export as CSV writes a spreadsheet-friendly file of your expenses, which you can open in any spreadsheet app. Back up everything writes a complete snapshot of all your data that Cento can restore later, which is the one to use if you are changing phones. Restoring a backup replaces what is currently in the app rather than merging into it.
From Settings, in the account section. Deleting removes your account and the data we hold for it on our servers, including your subscription record and the household link. It cannot be undone. If you only want the app gone from one phone, uninstalling is enough and does not touch a shared household.
The other members of that household, and only them. A household shares its expenses, people, categories and CresCENTO transfers among its members, so anyone in it sees what the others add. People outside the household cannot see any of it. Leaving a household stops the sharing from that point on.
